John & Lise' Ohlson have been actively involved in working with Fox Island youth for over a decade, mentoring over 37 Eagle Scout candidates, leading and working with Girl Scout Troops, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturers, organizing community volunteers, and advocating the expansion of recreational opportunities for Fox Island residents.

Serving the youth of the Fox Island community is an important role for FICRA, and John has brought our children together to help serve the community in numerous ways.

Among the youth related accomplishments John has been involved in during the past 11 years:

 
Organized four new Scouting units under FICRA's sponsorship:
o 2007 Boy Scout Troop 27 (Boys aged 11 to 17)
o 2010 Venture Crew 27 (Boys and Girls aged 14 - 21)
o 2011 Cub Scout Pack 27 (Boys and Girls ages 6 to 10)
o 2018 Scouts BSA Troop 727 (Girls aged 11 to 17)
 
Served as Scoutmaster to 32 boys from around Puget Sound, who attended the 2010 National Scout Jamboree in Virginia
 
Served as Scoutmaster to 33 boys from around Puget Sound, who attended the 2013 National Scout Jamboree at The Summing Scouting Reserve in West Virginia
 
Served as Mentor to 37 Eagle Scout Service projects and Girl Scout projects at the Nichols Community Center and Fox Island Nature Center:
o 2002 - Fire Pit and benches - Matt Randle
o 2004 - New Flagpole - Mark McKinney & Cub Scout Pack 202
o 2004 - Picnic Tables for the Gazebo - Matt Wiley
o 2005 - 60' long Footbridge at the Nature Center - Keith Buchannan
o 2005 - Christmas Tree for NCC - Cub Scout Pack 202
o 2005 - Bird Houses for the Nature Center - Cub Scout Pack 202
o 2006 - 11 Park Benches - John Uehlin
o 2007 - Native Species Garden - Ryan Eason
o 2007 - 4 Raised walkways over the wetland - Garrett McKinney
o 2007 - New Deck for NCC - Paige Ollice
o 2007 - New Trail Construction and plant identification markers - Ian Johnson
o 2007 - Nature Garden - Girl Scout Troop 290
o 2008 - Picnic Area for Nature Center - Zach Briggs
o 2009 - Bleachers for the Ball Field - Andrew Palmer
o 2009 - Ball Field Bench - Cub Scout Pack 202
o 2010 - Brick pathway to the Gazebo - Bryse Paffile

o 2010 - Trail Improvement Project - Stairs & Raised Walk - Jensen Bond
o 2010 - Trail Improvement Project - Footbridge Approach - Max Reetz

o 2011 - Extension of raised walkways - Sravan Konda
o 2012 - New staircase and improvements to the Demolay Clubhouse structure for the Fox Island Sandspit park
o 2013 - 2018 - Various trail projects, picnic areas & benches, and Fox Island Community Garden improvements.
